Privacy Notice: Transforming Cultures of Language-Learning
Purpose
The Transforming Cultures of Language-Learning project is funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. Its purpose is to identify the factors that support effective cultures of language-learning. We would like to collect information on your views on your experiences of language-learning. We will use them to understand what supports language-learning. Our analysis is not about individuals and all data will be anonymised in any project reports.
If you are happy to participate, we will collect the following data about you:
Secondary pupils: name, school, gender; languages spoken at home, parents’ occupation.
Professionals: name, email address and job title.
Lawful Basis
We must have a legal basis for processing your information. One of the University’s official purposes is to carry out research and so our legal basis is public interest/official authority of the University.
Third Parties
Your personal data will not be shared with any third parties.
Security
All data will be held securely in accordance with the University’s data storage and cybersecurity policies. Only the researchers working on the project will have access to it. It will be anonymised before being analysed so that no individual will be identifiable.
How long we will keep your data
For secondary pupils, your first name will be held for 1 month. It will then be deleted so that you cannot be identified.
Your rights
You have the right to request to see a copy of the information we hold about you and to request corrections or deletions of the information that is no longer required.
In some circumstance you may have the right to object to the processing of your personal data, to request it is erased where it is no longer required for the stated purposes, or that inaccurate information about you is corrected.
